Cassidy Wendell (prefers Cass), the Founder of #GIRLGETAFTERIT, is from a tiny town in Montana, but for the last 10 years she has called Bozeman her home. When Cass isn’t busy bringing women together through wellness events + creating gear that gives back to non-profits, she’s out and about exploring and skiing the beautiful Montana ski resort, Big Sky, and its never-ending activities.

Slightly off the beaten path, Big Sky Resort offers skiers and snowboarders a massive amount of terrain to explore. It’s one of the largest resorts in North America. Crowd-free terrain satisfies families and thrill-seekers alike. Have a long weekend to adventure? We chatted with Cass on how to do Big Sky like a true local.

Ski Spots

One of the best things about Big Sky is that it has terrain for every ability level. Many people don't realize this because of Big Sky's big mountain reputation. A lot of Big Sky's hype is focused on Lone Peak, the Big Couloir, the North Summit Snowfield, and the Challenger zone. Behind all the advanced and expert-level skiing, there is enough beginner terrain to keep even the newest skiers and riders entertained.

Challenger Lift

As the name suggests, this lift takes you to some challenging runs and should only be shredded by expert-level skiers and snowboarders. Cass tells us this run has some of the best views of the peak. So, before you head down take a second to look up! (and maybe snap a good pic!)

Southern Comfort (aka Soco) Lift

Big Sky has 870 acres of beginner terrain! That's more skiable acreage than some entire ski resorts. Whether you’re a beginner-level skier or a skier in need of a mellow groomer, runs off the Southern Comfort lift will not disappoint!

Watch Skijoring

Skijoring is an up-and-coming sport! If you’ve never heard of it, skijoring is ski racing on a pair of skis with a horse (& cowboy) pulling you. It’s entertaining to watch and The Big Sky Skijoring competition is held every February in the Big Sky Town Center!

Where to Eat

After a big day on the slopes, in the town, or in the mountains, you're going to need some delicious food. No matter what type of food you're looking for, you can find it in Big Sky. There are so many options that it can be overwhelming, so we asked Cass for her 5-star recommendations!

Lotus Pad

According to Cass, Lotus Pad is a vibrant bar/eatery chefing-up locally sourced Thai & other Asian staples in town! “You think Thai food in the middle of nowhere wouldn’t be good, but it’s AMAZING!”

Niseko Ramen

Niseko Ramen is a Japanese noodle restaurant located in the heart of Big Sky Town Center - by Fire Pit Park. Cass’s fav ramen on the menu? The Chasu Ramen.
